Losing some hair every day is normal — around fifty to a hundred strands. Losing it in clumps, or seeing noticeably more scalp month after month, is not. Before anything is fitted, it is worth understanding what is causing it.
Common causes we see
- Hereditary pattern hair loss in men and women
- Stress, illness and post-fever shedding
- Iron, protein and vitamin deficiency
- Harsh chemical treatments, tight styling and heat damage
- Medication and post-treatment hair loss
What we can do
We give honest advice first. If a change in hair care and products will help, we will tell you that and sell you nothing. If the hair is not coming back, a hair replacement system restores the look immediately, and we will explain the maintenance it needs before you commit.
Chemical and mechanical processes used in many hair treatment centres shorten the life of your hair. Ask us before you try them.
When to come in sooner rather than later
- The parting or the crown looks visibly wider than it did six months ago.
- Hair is coming out in clumps rather than strands.
- The hairline has moved back and is not filling in again.
- There are bare patches with a clear edge to them.
- The shedding started after an illness, a fever, a surgery or a course of medication.
What we will not do
We will not sell you a system you do not need. If the shedding is temporary — and post-fever and post-illness shedding usually is — the right advice is to wait, and we will tell you that. If it is permanent, we will say so just as plainly, and show you what a replacement system would look like on you.
